Offering unique support for the Jamaican cocoa industry

It is in Eastern Jamaica, in the parishes of Portland and Saint Thomas to be exact, that this chocolate’s cocoa is grown. The plantations lie along the plains beneath the John Crow and Blue Mountains.
In 2012, Valrhona signed a 10-year partnership with the Jamaica Cocoa Farmer’s Association to support its efforts to build a fair and sustainable Jamaican cocoa industry. This non-profit was founded in 2008, when the industry was opened up to greater liberalization by Clayton Williams. It was to be the first ever non-profit devoted to cocoa producers in Jamaica’s history. Its objective is to further producers’ interests by promoting their crops on the luxury cocoa market.

When we upheld our commitments during a difficult time for the Jamaica Cocoa Farmer’s Association, people really understood what it meant to be in partnership with Valrhona.
